HOLY 60 YEARS OF BATMAN, BATMAN (PT. 2)
Welcome to Retro Cool Nerd’s ongoing celebration of the 60 year anniversary of the television show that cemented caped crime fighting in the heart and minds of an entire generation- Batman. Starring Adam West and Burt Ward, the show dominated the air waves and pop culture for its entire 3 season run. Another way we are celebrating this momentous occasion is by dropping this unedited interview I had with Tv's Boy Wonder, Burt Ward. The actor took a tremendous amount of time away from his business, Gentle Giants Dog Food, and family to chat with Jimmy Leszczynski about Batman, Robin, on set injuries and more. Below is the entire unedited conversation, which lasted over an hour and a half, just as it happened some time ago. Sit back, get comfortable, and enjoy this deep dive into Burt Ward’s memories and reflection of the beloved Batman TV show.
My relationship with Adam …I loved Adam. We met just before the screen test. I mean, 1100 young guys are interviewed and when it came to a screen test, I was one. There was another person, but I was put with Adam. I met him like five minutes before the screen test and why do, I take it back it was more like 15 minutes before , but in five minutes of talking to him we started laughing and we never stopped laughing for 50 years. i mean he just the funniest, charming, just witty, just razor sharp intellect- which I loved. And we were always great friends. I must tell you in my heart of hearts, I believe that chemistry of Adam and I working together - where I mean if he went slower, I i went faster.
