HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL DINI

Animator, Creator, Producer, Writer- Paul Dini has worn a lot of hats. Today he dons yet another, a birthday hat. 62 years ago today, Paul was born in New York City, Fast forward a few years and he is producing some of the biggest shows in animation history for Warner Brothers and DC. Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman: Beyond, Duck Dodgers, and Tiny Toon Adventures all bear the Dini touch. Later he would go on to work with Marvel Animation on Hulk And The Agents Of S.M.A.S.H. and Ultimate Spider-Man.

J101 students may point out here that I might be “Burying the lead”. As some of you may know already Paul, along with Bruce Timm (B:TAS), Justice League), co- created one of the most popular female characters ever animated Ms Harley Quinn.. Since she first appeared in the Joker’s Favor episode, she has been a mainstay and has had a place in all Batman media since. 

Back at San Diego Comic Con 2018, while on assignment for Bleeding Cool, I had the chance to sit down with Paul at a roundtable for the Blu- Ray release of Batman:The Animated Series Complete collection. He talks about his love for the property and and why the show has continued to be a fan favorite for so long. Paul tells us how proud he is that Harley has joined “ the Big Three” and Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman now have a fourth.
